Ipsen's ATLAS atmosphere line delivers precision and versatility through intelligent interfaces, advanced controls and ease of integration. 

In addition, the use of innovative technologies, such as Carb-o-Prof®, Recon® III Burners and TurboQuench™, provides you with equipment that is intuitive, efficient and easy to operate. Available in both single- and double-chain models, the ATLAS line provides full-scale solutions for all of your heat-treating needs.

System Integration

Ipsen's components are configured for maximum compatibility for both the single- and double-chain ATLAS models.

In addition, the ATLAS single-chain model utilizes the same push-pull chain loader as the industry standard, allowing it to integrate into existing lines for any brand of atmosphere furnace with ease.

Energy Efficiency

Ipsen's Recon® III Burners increase thermal efficiency up to 75% – simply by utilizing the heat from the exhaust gases to preheat the combustion air. These burners are paired with single-ended radiant tubes (SERT) that are fitted with special ceramic inner tubes and set apart by their low noise levels, high durability, low maintenance and easy installation. This allows them to provide ideal heating while also optimizing gas consumption and achieving maximum energy efficiency.

Exceptional Performance

Ipsen's oil-quenching systems reduce distortion, improve the properties of steel and consistently achieve uniform surface and core hardening. These systems feature a variable-speed agitation system that produces a uniform and adjustable flow of oil throughout the load and allows the oil flow to be adjusted based on section size, material and load density. They can also tackle even the most challenging alloys by reducing the hardness spread and increasing the overall throughput.

Carb-o-Prof®

Carb-o-Prof software combines more than six decades of knowledge and expertise in a single controls system. Carb-o-Prof delivers an extensive recipe database, time- and cost-saving simulator with C-Profile optimization and adaptive control that ensures you get the best part quality every time. 

Quality Insulation

The ATLAS furnace uses ceramic fiber and rigid firebricks that are extremely resilient and capable of withstanding temperatures well above the working temperature

ATLAS Ancillary Equipment

In addition to the ATLAS furnace, Ipsen also provides the entire heat-treating system. This complete atmosphere system provides users with a high level of flexibility as they can execute different thermal processes in each integral quench furnace, as well as expand the system for larger production needs and future increases in demand. Available ancillary equipment includes:

Washer

Ipsen's electrically heated, single-chamber washer allows for effective cleaning of the parts through immersion and spray washing, and it delivers thoroughly dried loads. The washer also features automatic operation interlocked with a washing cycle timer, as well as top- and side-mounted, adjustable-direction, full-cone spray nozzles. Other key features include:

  • High bath temperature for improved cleaning
  • Educators for improved oil removal and reduced heat stratification in the tank
  • Front loading/unloading, pneumatically actuated load door is manually operated

Temper

Ipsen's front loading/unloading temper furnaces provide a typical temperature operating range of 300 °F to 1,250 °F (150 °C to 680 °C) with a temperature uniformity of ±10 °F (±5 °C). This optimium temperature uniformity is maintained by an internal alloy steel baffle system that directs heated air throughout the workload. Additional features include:

  • Center-mounted chain guide that interfaces with the single-chain push/pull head of an external loader
  • Electically heated and gas-fired versions offered
  • Pneumatically actuated, vertical-lift front door

Loader/Unloader Car

The loader/unloader car for the ATLAS furnace allows parts to be loaded into, and removed from, the different heat-treating system components both smoothly and safely. Key features include:

  • Electrically powered
  • Designed for manual or semi-automatic operation
  • Incorporates a heavy-duty frame with structural steel channels and angles for a rigid structure
  • Allows loading and unloading on both sides of the aisle

Endo Generator

Ipsen's Endo Generators feature a modular design and are available in several sizes (G750-G4000) to meet the unique needs of customers. For ease of use, programs are preinstalled for regeneration of the retort (conditioning cycle), starting and cooling down. These generators can be electrically heated or gas fired, and can be equipped with either highly efficient air-cooled or water-cooled heat exchangers. In addition, the amount of endothermic gas can be adjusted to efficiently fit the needs of your heat-treating line.

Load/Storage Tables

Ipsen's load/storage tables for the ATLAS furnace feature non-powered rollers and chain guide for the load car's handling mechanism. This allows for the easy introduction and removal of loads into and out of the system, as well as for the efficient storage of soft and hard loads
